'It's all about the base'
Ok, one of the most important things is finding the right base. You want to have makeup: that is going to last through the night, through all that dancing and more importantly doesn't wash you out in all those memorable photos.
- One of my favourite ways to create a base at the moment is using: 'Loreal Infallible Mattifying Primer' paired with 'Loreal Infallible 24hr Matte', and then set with 'Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blott'. These together create a flawless canvas that lasts all day even in humid/sweaty circumstances, meaning that your face isn't going to run off any where soon. The foundation also contains little SPF (or non I couldn't find anywhere saying otherwise), so there will be no flash backs when your taking selfies with your friends.
- To highlight and conceal 'Collection Lasting Perfection' is a must have. It is a high coverage, fast setting and non budging concealer that is a staple for any event.
- For cheeks 'NYX Matte Bronzer' is perfect to either subtly sculpt or full on Kim K, its easily blend-able and build-able, with a more natural finish than a lot of other drugstore bronzers. Pop on a little bit of 'Makeup Revolution blush in shade Sugar', a perfect all rounder matte blush that will make your cheeks pop whilst suiting any dress.
'I've got my eyes on you'
For eyes, you can really take it any way you want. The products that I believe are essentials, can give you so many different looks that are easy to put together and will look amazing no matter what your skill is.- Now I know I haven't added in a 'Drugstore' eye shadow primer, mainly because I don't actually own one. I honestly believe that the drugstore is so limited on their eye primers, and to me its such an important step as it can improve the look and lasting power of any shadow. With out it, chances are all that hard work you did is going to crease and can even transfer into one another, meaning you'll end up looking like a hot mess within a few hours. An alternative would be to use a concealer such as 'Collection Lasting Perfection', its a thicker consistency and is sticky which are great properties for a primer.
- One of the best drugstore all rounder palettes is the 'MUA Undressed', a perfect dupe for the 'Urban Decay Naked Palette'. The shadows are blend-able and pigmented, giving you the perfect look. My favourite combination is to use (going from L-R numbered 1-12) : 3 in crease, 2 and 4 layered on lid, 5 again in crease, 10 on outer corner and 1 in inner corner and brow bone.
- I love 'Loreal Super Liner Superstar', its so easy to use. You can create the thickest and thinest lines, as well as helping to create the perfect wing. Its long lasting, which is something you really want in a liner. Pair it with 'Maybelline Lash Sensational', your eyes will be looking big and beautiful in no time. This mascara lengthens lashes and you can build it to help with volume. If you do want to add a little more of a 'something something', I would defiantly with out a doubt recommend 'Eylure no 155 lashes'. They are long, natural looking falsies which will help to enhance your eyes, really tying in all your makeup to perfection. They come with a handy glue that you can bung in your bag or purse, so if they do come off or begin to lift then you are prepared.
'She's got Red lips.'
For lips and brows you can get creative if you want, but these to me are the two things that can really make or break a look. You want to keep the brows looking natural yet sculpted and the lips to look great no matter what your eyes or dress colour is.- Two products great for brows are the 'Eyes Lips Face brow kit' and 'Rimmel Brow This Way'. If you want a little colour and not a whole lot of filling in then just pop on Brow this way for an effortless brow. For more put together brows, use a little of the wax in the brow kit and set with the powder. If your not used to doing brows, remember a little can go a long way, and the 'Scouse brow' isn't in any more, so its best to use a light hand.
- Lipstick you can either go natural or more glamorous. Personal preference, I prefer the more natural look mainly because Im super lazy and don't really like much on my lips. 'Loreal Colour Riche lipstick in Julliana' is the perfect pink shade that suites most skin colours. The formulae is long lasting and non drying leaving your lips looking kissable! My favourite red lipstick is 'NYX Extra creamy round in the shade Chaos'. It's a bright blue-red shade which will make your teeth look whiter and the creamy texture means it will glide on for easy and foolproof application. Use a lip brush to mark out your lips first, fill in with the lipstick and finish off by sculpting round with a little bit of concealer to ensure lips look perfect. The great thing about this lipstick too is it leaves a slight stain on your lips, so if you are lazy like me then it doesn't matter too much if you don't re-apply.
