Im almost 100% sure I'm about to ask the same thing as so many other bloggers ask when writing these monthly posts. Where has the month gone? Serious though, I honestly have no idea where it has disappeared too. It only feels like yesterday I was celebrating Christmas and now it's almost June! (Well tomorrow is June. Of if you are reading this after today then its already June). I try to plan out each month that I'm going to do a favourites post or video, but I never actually get round to doing it. Don't know why, as I really enjoy reading and watching them. I feel like they help you to discover new products you may not know about or even help you rediscover something that you have forgotten about. So without further ado here is my 'May Favourites', hopefully the first favourites post of many.
Blogging..
You may have noticed during May I've been really focusing on my blog. Like really focusing. It's something I've been trying to get myself back into for so long. When I had my previous blog I loved blogging, I found it a way to express my self in my own little world. Somewhere I could talk about the things I loved most. When you take such a huge gap out of doing something like I did, its so hard to get back into. Finding the motivation, the time and just generally the love again. I don't know what it was that clicked in my head, but I'm so glad it did. I'm loving writing, taking photos and just being able to share my love of things with other people! Im so proud of myself for finding the motivation to start again. I just need to now find that with my YouTube and I'll be happy.
Makeup..
Ok so lets get on to the stuff that we all know your actually here to see. The makeup.
I have been trying to give myself a bit of a spending ban recently, especially with the build up to IMAT's in July, I don't want to waste money on drugstore things when I could have used that money to buy some 'NARS' or 'Limecrime' at IMATS.
If you have ever watched any of my YouTube videos (if not then you really should), you will know that I am obsessed with using 'MAC Paint Pots' especially 'Soft Ochre' and 'Painterly'. Whilst looking on DEPOP I thought it would be good to try a shimmery colour. I've been wearing a lot of glitz on my lids and wanted something to emphasise that and make my lids look more sparkly than Edward Cullen in the sun. 'Bare Study' does just that. It's so beautiful, an almost light, goldie - pink shade that looks great on its own or underneath any shadow. I also found it doesn't mess with matte shadows either, which is great because matte is my crease love! I haven't even reached for another paint pot since buying this and the best bit? It cost me like £8 instead of the usual £15.50 and was barely used!
I picked this up in a swap that I did with someone from the USA a few months back - you can check that out here-. At first when I saw it I was like "No cheek shimmer!" I have a oily face, so you can see why that was my reaction. However, it is not shimmery! Well it has a slight shimmer which is barely noticeable. Instead, its a beautiful berry coral shade that is perfect for summer. It looks amazing on my cheeks and blends effortlessly meaning that I don't have to work too hard to get rid of those streaky cheeks. Im addicted to this blush and really want to try more from Milani! Pre- warning this stuff is so pigmented, you don't need a lot on your brush!
If you watch American YouTubers no doubt you would have seen these used by someone at least once. These are a staple in so many makeup bags and honestly? Im not surprised. When I first got these I wasn't 100% sure. Im used to slightly longer lashes, so having something a bit more natural was kind of daunting. After wearing them for a few days, I was so impressed. They are a great everyday false lash, that gives your eyes a bit more definition to your natural lashes alone. They create volume and a little length which is something that I lack and the reason I don't feel comfortable wearing mascara alone. They come in a handy pack of 4 and for just £10.99 its a bargain compared to other brands that you buy on the hughstreet.
I surprised myself with this one. I got the sample in ELLE magazine back in March and at first I didn't like it. Didn't get the hype at all, so put it to the back of my mascara collection. Seeing constant posts on my twitter feed filled with people saying how much they where loving this mascara, I decided it was worthy of a second chance and Im so glad I did. I don't use this much on my upper lashes just because I wear falsies so its kind of counter productive. One coat is it for them! For lower lashes this is phenomenal. I layer this maybe two or three times to give them ultimate volume and length, something they don't really have. I like my lower lashes to be a focal point and this mascara really does that. The wand allows you to get right into those hard to get spaces meaning it coats every lash, giving your eyes that 'wide eye' look. It doesn't transfer under my eyes either which is a big thing for me! I swear so many formulae's of so many brands do that and I end up looking like a panda every couple of hours! It's made me really want to get more into Benefit and recently picked up their Gimme Brow, so I'm excited to try that!
So there it is folks, my May Favourites. I hope you enjoyed as much as I did writing it!
What have been your favourite things in May?
Have you got any recommendations from Benefit that I need to try?
